Phone photo in.Passport‑ready out.

Take a photo on your phone. In about a minute it is sized to UK passport rules and checked, then emailed as a digital file for the online application and a 6 × 4 sheet you can take to a photo counter and print as an ordinary 6 × 4.

A phone snap in your kitchen is enough. Face the camera in even light. ReadyID handles the room behind you, so there is no studio, backdrop or blank wall to find.

Prepare

Cut out, sized, put on plain grey

You are separated from the room, and the background is replaced with plain light grey. Your head is centred and scaled to 29-34 mm, and the frame is cropped to exactly 35×45 mm. Your face stays untouched. Rules we cannot edit are checked and reported.

Deliver

Delivered to your inbox

Preview the result free, then buy for £1.99. It arrives by email as a digital file for the online application plus a 6 × 4 sheet of six copies. We do not print and post photos yet — print the sheet at home, or at a supermarket or high-street photo counter for the price of an ordinary print.

Print it locally

The last step is an ordinary 6 × 4 print.

Your email carries a 6 × 4 sheet holding six copies at exactly 35 × 45 mm. Take it to a photo counter on a phone or a USB stick and ask for a standard borderless 6 × 4 print. There is no passport-photo service to book and nothing to explain — to the shop it is an ordinary print.

Ask for the print at 100% scale, not “fit to frame”. Fitting rescales the sheet and takes the head outside the 29–34 mm window, which is the one way a correct file becomes a rejected photo.

Applying online instead? You do not need any of this — the other attachment is a digital file at the size the gov.uk form asks for.

The rules

Every rule, checked. Every photo, compliant.

Photos are rejected for small details, such as a shadow behind the ear or a head 2 mm too small. ReadyID checks each published requirement before you pay.
